Future Eagle Scout, Brycen Groess, is doing the almost impossible, by erecting a totally new 10′ x 12′ building for FatKittyCity, as his Eagle Scout project. It may be one of the biggest projects any Eagle Scout has ever undertaken for his project!
Forms were put up, then concrete was poured, and now the carpentry structure is appearing at FatKittyCity! We are so blessed to have Brycen, with the help of his whole family, tackling such a major project to benefit all the kitties and families here at “the City”. This new construction will include the entire “shell” of the shed, including siding and a roof, windows and a beautiful new glass door (kitties MUST look outside constantly). It will NOT include the finishing of the insides with sheet rock, insulation, cabinets, fixtures and electric, however. Substantial new funds will need to be found for that, as it is QUITE costly to finish these sheds inside! When finished we can complete this building in the same way and theme that the other buildings are. We look forward to that!
The new building is located on the far side of the “Pirates of the Caribbean Bridge”, making it the first new structure we have added to our larger expanded area. Eventually, we plan for a total of three of these buildings inside that expansion area, across the bridge. It adds a new “look” to the “City”, as it is now evident why such a heavy, long-lasting bridge was constructed in the first place. It really starts to “stretch out” the Sanctuary, adding new benefits for the kitties there. However, it also poses a “stretching out” of our volunteer resources. So, talk to all your friends, neighbors and relatives, and get them out here to volunteer!
Everyone who hasn’t seen the new building should come by for a “look-see”! It is beautiful!
