Fat Kitty City’s Kitties Won’t Go Hungry!

May 10, 2013 by Gina Woods-Norris Leave a Comment

Thank you to all who participated in our food drive. Our shelves are stocked with a variety of dry and canned food. The kitties are going to love the feeders! The kitties may truly be ‘fat’. We now have enough food to feed them throughout the summer and into the fall.

This was our first food drive and it was certainly a success. Fat Kitty City would like to thank all of our drop off locations, in Folsom: Sbarkles, Pet Vets of Folsom, Whole Foods, Home Consignment Store, Broadstone Racquet Club, Western Feed Store, and in El Dorado Hills: Togs for Dogs, Market Place Veterinary, Bark Avenue, EDH Library, Fire Department on Francisco, CSD, Senior Citizen Center, Safeway and the Four Seasons’ Neighborhood. These locations promoted our food drive and encouraged donations from their patrons. Sbarkles and Pet Vets of Folsom are continuing to collect food for us and will be displaying our blue collection bins. Please tell all of our drop off locations that Fat Kitty City appreciates their support.

In addition to our location sites, we were able to collect some money to support our food supply. Our wonderful volunteers gathered food from clubs, troops, neighborhoods, individuals and schools. We were able to collect a bit over 4,000 pounds, fantastic!

Thank you to Janna Buwalda for being an awesome co-chair of the food drive and to Veronica Keim for helping to monitor the bins and bring the stash back to the sanctuary. This team’s effort made the food drive run smoothly and successfully. Fat Kitty City recognizes how wonderful our community is and its continued support of the kitties. It is fabulous to know that the basic need of food has been taken care of for the next few months and the cats will eat well.
