Romeo and Juliet…a Happily Ever After!

June 20, 2015 by Gina Woods-Norris Leave a Comment

Romeo and Juliet

Brother and sister, these little black beauties were rescued last winter along with their mother, Poppet, and spent their early days in a foster care home in Rio Vista. When their foster mom, Alexandra, notified us that she was no longer able to care for them, Patty, another Fat Kitty City foster, agreed to take them. So, we drove to Rio Vista to pick up all three. We easily placed Romeo and Poppet into their carriers, but Juliet ran and hid, so she remained behind.

Sadly, the kittens, now separated, were residing in two different foster homes.

Poppet, their mother, was the first to be adopted! Then, suddenly, Juliet’s foster was called away to help a sick friend so she could no longer care for little Juliet. So, Patty took Juliet and the two kittens were re-united! Their bond had never ceased, and they became inseparable once more. Soon this sibling pair went to adoptions at Petco in Cameron Park, where Juliet stayed close to her brother’s side, feeling protected by Romeo’s confidence.

Because black cats typically take longer to be adopted than other cats, and because Juliet was a little shy with people, we worried that adopting them might take a long time, and these sweet babies might face being separated again. But such was not the case; Romeo and Juliet were adopted TOGETHER!

Today they share their love and companionship with a very special family having found their forever home – together! In April, their new mom reported they were all settled in and were happy and affectionate. Her family was thrilled with the adoption.

Two months later the following message and lovely picture arrived in our mail box:  “They are happy, healthy, and loving!!! We enjoy them so much!! Thank you for these little blessings to our family.”
