Sage was again adopted to a couple who, despite warnings that she doesn’t like dogs, adopted a dog and after a year, wanted to return her. Instead, they put her on craigslist and gave her away to the first person who answered the ad! This violates the rules in our adoption contract. Luckily, we were able to track down the third person who adopted Sage and get her contact information. Within a short time, Sage was returned again! Sage was taken to the PetSmart store, where once again, she received a lot of attention for her looks, but there were no qualified adopters with the right situation for Sage.
The longer she remained in the cage, the more depressed she became, and she started acting out. She was taken to the Sanctuary for a break, where she just seemed content to not be in a cage. A kind FKC supporter offered to foster her until Sage could be adopted to her “forever” home. Our volunteers worked tirelessly, advertising this beauty on social media and telling her sad tale.

One day, an exceptional gentleman who was moved by Sage’s story expressed interest in adopting her. He wanted his home to be her last one.
He took the time to introduce her slowly to his one-year-old male cat. He has been “catifying” his house by installing cat doors, climbing areas, shelves, cat trees. He knows that Sage can be a “feisty diva” but he is fine with that and knows when to leave her alone and when she just wants to play.
Sage’s new “dad” is so delighted with her and says that she bonded to him right away. Thanks to your generosity, we have the time and resources to treat each cat as an individual. We carefully screen and match up our cats with their perfect adopter to ensure that our cats get the best home possible!
